Republican from Indiana
Dan Coats is the junior U.S. senator from Indiana, having been elected to succeed Sen. Evan Bayh in 2010. Coats previously served in the U.S. Senate from 1989 to 1999, and was Ambassador to Germany from 2001-2005 under President George W. Bush. He was also a prominent lobbyist and attorney in the private sector.
