With President Obama stopping in Austin to talk cutting-edge economic issues, Gov. Rick Perry welcomed him by touting the Texas "model," saying in a newspaper ad that Texas accounted for one third of the nation’s net job gains the past 10 years.

Meantime, Gilberto Hinojosa, who chairs the Texas Democratic Party, said in an email blast to supporters that job gains during Obama’s first term outpaced such gains in the two terms of his GOP predecessor, George W. Bush.
