We'll be announcing the Lie of the Year tonight at 11:30 p.m. here on PolitiFact.com and on ABC's Nightline.
The Lie of the Year is awarded to the most significant falsehood of the year. In 2009, the winner was the claim that the health care plan would include "death panels.” We're choosing the winner from our eight finalists and will also be naming the winner of the Reader's Choice award.
This year's winner will be announced on Nightline, which airs at 11:35 p.m on ABC. On Friday, PolitiFact editor Bill Adair will discuss it on NPR"s Morning Edition. That segment is scheduled to air between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m.
