Come work for PolitiFact: We're hiring an immigration fact-checker

Come work for PolitiFact!

We’re hiring a fact-checker to focus on immigration issues for the rest of the 2016 campaign. We’re looking for someone who has political or policy reporting experience, loves research and isn’t afraid to call a claim True, False or Pants on Fire, based on what they find.

If you’ve reported on immigration and have a deep source list, that’s a plus, as is the ability to speak Spanish.

This position is funded thanks to reader support and runs through the November elections. You can work from anywhere, though we’d happily welcome you to our offices in either Washington, D.C., or St. Petersburg, Fla.

PolitiFact is a fact-checking website that rates the accuracy of claims by elected officials and others who speak up in American politics. PolitiFact is run by editors and reporters from the Tampa Bay Times, an independent newspaper in Florida, as is PunditFact, a site devoted to fact-checking pundits. The PolitiFact state sites are run by news organizations that have partnered with the Times. The state sites and PunditFact follow the same principles as the national site.

If you’re interested in this six-month contract position, send along five clips you think we should read, a letter stating why you’d be a good fit for the job and your resume to holan@politifact.com. Deadline is May 1.
