U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul, who chairs the House Homeland Security Committee, told colleagues that plans by the Obama administration to reduce detention beds for individuals believed to have violated immigration laws entail hundreds of dangerous criminals on the loose.

President Barack Obama submitted a budget request to cut the number of detention beds.

However, we found no evidence of plans to release hundreds, or even a few, violent criminals nor were such criminals part of the release of about 2,200 individuals earlier this year, according to testimony.
