David Alameel didn't live in a colonia; he lived in La Colonia, he says

David Alameel, the Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate seat held by Republican John Cornyn, told Democrats last weekend he understands poverty because he once lived in a colonia.

Not quite, it turned out.

Alameel told us he was speaking to a couple of years he lived in an Oxnard, Calif., community called La Colonia. His house had basic services, though, unlike the persistent struggling colonias of Texas.
