Is the United Nations coming to take your guns? A realistic-looking document sent to us recently by a reader seems to say it's going to happen.

The document, which is circulating on social media, says the world body is moving forward with plans to help member nations disarm their civilian populations of "military grade," "concealable" and "hunting grade" firearms, and even "ammunition and components to manufacture ammunition."

This would seem to support fears among Americans who support the right to bear arms that either the U.S. government or a world government is on the verge of taking away lawful citizens’ guns.

But we checked with the U.N., and a spokesman found multiple inaccuracies with the document that gave it away as a clever fake. We rated it Pants on Fire.
