The thought of a "post-truth world" has been on a lot of people’s minds lately. Do facts still matter? Is telling the truth still important?

You are the reason why we're so sure the answer to both questions is yes. Absolutely!

As someone who reads our website, you clearly care about facts and how politicians are sometimes spinning reality. At PolitiFact, we’ve spent the past 10 years helping sort out fact from fiction online and in the statements politicians make.

It’s particularly interesting -- and noteworthy -- that one of our most popular stories recently was actually a fact-check we wrote in January 2008, examining whether John McCain caved under torture while a POW in Vietnam. (The answer is: there’s no proof McCain collaborated and claims that he did are Pants on Fire false.)

For more than 10 years, we’ve been committed to writing stories wherever the truth takes us, no matter the issue or politics of the moment.

As a 501(c)(3), our nonprofit newsroom’s ability to continue debunking falsehoods begins with members — everyday people who see the value of PolitiFact and make a small-dollar contribution that is meaningful to them and is truly meaningful to us.

With our Spring Member Drive going on now, please consider contributing what you can today.
