Jimena Tavel is a fact-checking intern for PolitiFact Florida. She was born and raised in Honduras. She earned her associate's degree from Florida Gulf Coast University and then transferred to the University of Florida, where she is a senior studying journalism. She's also the managing editor for print of The Independent Florida Alligator.
