Remarks by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., at the Turning Point Action Conference in July 2023

Thank you. Good morning, everyone. Happy Sunday. Thank you. I love you too. Thank you.

Well, some of you might have seen that I was on “60 Minutes.” It's not a show that I usually watch, but I was on there and one of the things that Lesley Stahl could not understand was why I called the Democrat party the party of pedophiles. So, I've written a little explanation to help explain, for those that can't see it and don't understand, why I say the Democrat Party is the party of pedophiles. But I've done it in a little bit of a style that many of you in the room will recognize and it's going to be sort of like a tribute to Jeff Foxworthy.

• You might be a pedophile if you buy your kids tuck-friendly bathing suits from Target.

• You might be a pedophile if your son lists you as ‘Pedo Peter’ in his contact list on his cell phone.

• You might be a pedophile If you think your students reading list should include the book Gender Queer.

• You might be a pedophile if you have more LGBTQ pride and trans flags in your classroom than the American flag, or why do you even have those flags in your classroom?

• You might be a pedophile if you tell your students not to tell their parents the special name you gave them.

• You might be a pedophile if your most played song on Spotify is We're Coming for Your Children by the San Francisco men's choir.

• You might be a pedophile if you are calling the great new movie Sound of Freedom a QAnon conspiracy theory.

• You might be a pedophile if you're a doctor that specializes in pediatric gender affirming care.

• You might be a pedophile if you are a social media company that allows child trafficking on your platform. Looking at you, Zuck.

• You might be a pedophile if you flew on Jeffrey Epstein's plane and you were on the flight log like 26 times, Mr. Clinton.

• You might be a pedophile if you make children's cartoons and movies that feature non binary characters to make impressionable young children question if they are a boy or a girl.

• You might be a pedophile if you're a Hollywood celebrity and all your children under 10 years old are trans.

• You might be a pedophile if you sent a death threat to Libs of TikTok.

• You might be a pedophile if your daughter wrote in her diary about inappropriate showers you took with her as a child, while she was in drug rehab center and you were running for president hiding in the basement.

• You might be a pedophile if you are caught on camera repeatedly sniffing strangers’ children over and over and over again.

• You might be a pedophile if you cast your vote for the party that openly supports the genital mutilation, the sexualization, the grooming and the targeting of our children, because that what the Democrat Party supports.

So what are we going to do about that ladies and gentlemen? Well, I want to tell you. I have a bill called the Protect Children's Innocence Act. This bill would make it a felony to perform so-called gender affirming care on any child under the age of 18, because children under the age of 18, they are not old enough to legally vote. They are not old enough to legally join the military. They are not old enough to legally buy alcohol. They're not old enough to buy — legally buy nicotine. They're not old enough to legally get a tattoo on their skin. And it should be a felony, people should go to jail for amputating children's body parts.

I'm going to need your help. Here's how you can help. Let me explain it to you. I've got good news. I’ve got really good news. I don't just have a bill introduced, I have a lot of co-sponsors with my Republican colleagues in Congress. And there's going to be hearings coming up and we'll be announcing that date very soon. So I want all of you to watch but I want you to contact your Republican representatives and tell them you want to see Marjorie Taylor Green’s bill, the Protect Children's Innocence Act, passed. You want to see it a law. You want to see to it that we end this evil barbaric practice of genital mutilation on children, because our children are from God and it is our duty as Republicans to protect them. And we should never allow this to happen in our country.

That's the first war. It is a war on our children. But I want to talk to you about a war I'm very concerned about. Last week in Washington, D.C., Congress spent the entire week debating the National Defense Authorization Act. This is a funding bill for the Department of Defense that happens every single year. It's the most important bill that we put together. The Department of Defense website states the mission is clear. The mission of the Department of Defense is number one to deter war, number two to protect our nation's national security interest. And so when I looked at this bill, I looked at it very simple. I looked at it through the mission of the Department of Defense. But my problem with the NDAA as it stands right now, is that it has funding for a war in Ukraine. And that does nothing to protect our borders. And that's your hard earned tax dollars. Now, let me tell you the great things about the bill. The NDAA as it stands right now, the Republican bill, gives the military personnel — our great men and women who serve — a pay raise. A good pay raise for the first time they've had in 30 years. And they deserve it. We fought this week and we removed transgender treatments in the military. We fought this week and put the Hyde Amendment in the NDAA so that none of your tax dollars fund abortion or abortion vacations. And Republicans worked hard to make sure that DEI and woke policies are removed from the military, because that does not belong. We're funding them with equipment. We're funding them with ammunition. We have to build it back up because Biden's war in Ukraine — a proxy war with Russia — has depleted our military. Our military is the weakest it has been in decades and decades. And we all know that the only way to achieve peace is through strength.

But let's talk about something. I'm going to tell you something very serious the way I see the Ukraine war, and I have never voted to send any of your money to Ukraine. I'm one of only a few. But the Ukraine war where it is going right now is it is exactly the way the Vietnam War started. And many of you in this room recognize it, so I want to walk you through some things.

Lyndon B. Johnson is very similar to Joe Biden. How are they the same? They're both Democrat socialist. Lyndon B. Johnson was the majority leader in the Senate. Does that sound familiar? He was vice president to Kennedy. Joe was Vice President Obama. He was appointed as the president after JFK was assassinated, then he was elected. His big socialist programs were the Great Society. The Great Society were big government programs to address education, medical care, urban problems, rural poverty, transportation, Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps and welfare, the Office of Economic Opportunity and big labor and labor unions. Now LBJ had the Great Society but Joe Biden had Build Back Better and he still is working on it.  The largest public investment and social infrastructure and environmental programs that is actually finishing what FDR started, that LBJ expanded on, and Joe Biden is attempting to complete. Socialism.

Meanwhile, we are now $32 trillion in debt, with record high homelessness, 40 year record inflation, we're losing the US dollar as the number one world currency. We're losing our freedoms. Our government is one big fat bloated machine, and it's killing the American dream. Our jobs are sent overseas, and America's manufacturing only is looming over small town America like a graveyard of the American dream. And now we find ourselves on the verge of another pointless foreign war.

Why? Why is this happening? I'll tell you why. Establishment Washington has a sick addiction. They have a bloodlust for war, and it makes me — It's horrid. It's horrid. So let's compare Ukraine and Vietnam shall we? Before the Ukraine war, Joe Biden said we will not get involved. He said Ukraine is not a NATO ally of ours. He said the United States will stay neutral.  Then, let me tell you what he did. Then, Congress and Joe Biden — and I'm not in this group, just so you know — sent $113 billion of your dollars to Ukraine. Not only that, they fund the Ukraine government at $1 billion dollars a month. That's not the $113 billion. $1 billion a month that pays for the Ukrainian government, that pays their salaries, that keeps the lights on while Zelenskyy runs around in a green T-shirt.

Now Joe Biden wants to send F-16s, he wants to send cluster munitions. I had an amendment on that last week and it failed. I tried to stop it. I had an amendment on stopping F-16. It failed. Long-range missiles. I had an amendment on that: it failed. Because I do not believe our Department of Defense mission, which is to deter war. Sending more war machines and more money to fund war does not deter war, ladies and gentlemen. It causes war. It increases war. The United States should be about making peace.

President Johnson, Lyndon B. Johnson when he was running for president in 1964. You know what he said on the campaign trail, we are not about to send our boys nine to 10,000 miles around the world to do what Asian boys should do at home. Then one year later in 1965, there were 184,000 United States troops in Vietnam. And by 1968, the United States had 548,000 US troops in Vietnam, and 30,000 of our military troops were already dead.

So, you see where it starts, and you see where it's going. And let's talk about how it ended up. I think history is so important to know, because it always repeats itself. But it doesn't have to when we pay attention and we learn our lessons. The United States draft — the draft where my father was drafted by the way — God bless him. He served in the Navy as a combat veteran in the Vietnam War. (Applause.) Thank you, and thank you to any veteran that's here today.

There were nearly 2 million of our young men drafted to serve in Vietnam, not our country. That was not one of the states of the United States of America. The draft sent them over, and by the time Vietnam War was finished, nearly 59,000 United States sons were dead or missing. Is that going to be the future for our country, for our sons, our daughters? Is that going to be the future? Because that is where Washington is taking us right now in Ukraine. I will not have it. I will not have it.

The good news is the NDAA is not finished yet. We will have final passage more than likely in the fall. The good news is I have another chance to fight for our military, to fight for our country, because I'll be serving on the conference that will be put together between the House and the Senate. And I've been appointed to that conference by the speaker and this is where I get to go and say no abortion in the military. This is where I get to go and say no transgender surgeries in the military. This is where I get to go and say fund our military and make it the strongest military in the world, so that we can have peace. And this is the place that I get to go and say no more war in Ukraine, Lindsey Graham.

And this is an important message. I'll wrap it up with this. I'll tell you why this is an important message. Our future for the United States of America should be turning our Department of Defense's attention back to its mission statement, deter war and protect our national security interests. That is our border. And the biggest threat to our border and to United States Americans today is the cartels in Mexico, who is responsible for killing 300 Americans every single day that Joe Biden doesn't give a damn about. I urge you with this, pay attention to war. Pay attention to war, there's two wars on our children and a future coming world war and we do not want any part of it.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the children of God. God bless you everyone. God bless you.
