It’s no secret what will dominate this Sunday: With President Barack Obama making a big policy speech on Friday, it’s pretty much national security reform across the board for the weekend.
House Intelligence Chairman Mike Rogers, R-Mich, does double duty, with interviews on CBS’s Face the Nation as well as NBC’s Meet the Press. CBS pairs Rogers with Sen. Mark Udall, D-Colo., and Tom Donilon, a former National Security Adviser in the Obama White House. NBC has Sen. Diane Feinstein, D- Calif., along with an NSA critic, Alexis Ohanian, a co-founder of Reddit.com.
Fox News Sunday brings in Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., and Gen. Michael Hayden, the former head of the Central Intelligence Agency and the National Security Agency. Meanwhile, ABC’s This Week has Rep. Michael McCaul, R- Texas, who chairs the House Homeland Security Committee. We’re still waiting to hear who CNN has on tap.
The surprise guest of the week is Russian President Vladimir Putin; he’ll be on ABC in the run-up to the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates talks about his memoir with host David Gregory on Meet the Press. (See PolitiFact’s check on what Gates said about Vice President Joe Biden.) Fox is planning a segment on security concerns with the Obamacare website, healthcare.gov.
NBC stays on the George Washington Bridge controversy with New Jersey Assemblyman John Wisniewski, a Democrat who’s helping lead the investigation into what role GOP Gov. Chris Christie may have had in the lane closures. Also appearing is former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani.
We'll be watching and checking.
