In January, as Gov. Scott Walker took office, we launched the Walk-O-Meter, which measures the status of 60-plus promises made by the governor on the campaign trail.

At the time, many readers wondered where all the other promise meters are.

The features, which mirror the national PolitiFact site’s Obameter and GOP Pledge-O-Meter, are based on promises made during an election. So, now that the spring election is over, we are launching the Abele-O-Meter.

It will, of course, monitor the promises made by new Milwaukee County executive Chris Abele. He is a Democrat, though the office is nonpartisan. He was elected to fill the final year of Walker’s term.

As with the Walk-O-Meter, we'll score each Abele promise with one of six categories: Not Yet Rated, Stalled, In the Works, Promise Broken, Compromise and Promise Kept.

We found the promises by combing through Abele’s campaign website and statements he made in debates and interviews. (If you think we missed any, let us know and we'll add them to our list.

Email: [email protected]).

Meanwhile, you can read more about the outlook for Abele's promises here.
