Since PolitiFact launched in 2007, we’ve made it our mission to produce public service journalism that informs and strengthens our democracy.

I’m want to tell you about our Spring fundraising campaign. As a new nonprofit newsroom, our Spring campaign is one of the key ways we raise funds to support the game-changing work our reporters produce. 



Donations from members offer a constant reminder of who our newsroom serves: YOU. In turn, your support allows us to inform our country on important issues and hold our leaders accountable.



Here are just a few examples of reporting that our members helped fund:

• When we fact-checked CIA director nominee Gina Haspel’s testimony before a U.S. Senate panel.

• When we unpacked Donald Trump’s first State of the Union address, and fact-checked 19 claims in one night.

• When we uncovered the hoaxes being spread after the Parkland, Fla., school shooting.

• When we continue watchdogging governors and state lawmakers in Wisconsin, Florida, Texas, California, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Illinois, North Carolina, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Alabama … and a few more.

This is critical work. It’s free to read, but not to produce.
