We are PolitiFact, the nation’s largest team of fact-checkers and misinformation fighters. And we want you on our side.

As a summer intern at PolitiFact during the run-up to the 2022 midterm elections, you’ll hold politicians accountable for their words and promises. You’ll deconstruct the rhetoric of PACs and pundits. You’ll debunk social media hoaxes and myths. You’ll supply context and nuance to daily news coverage through fact-checks and explainers. You’ll research, analyze, report, write and publish. You’ll be a force for truth, transparency and democracy.

PolitiFact is a Pulitzer Prize-winning news organization and part of the prestigious Poynter Institute for Media Studies, a nonprofit journalism school and research organization founded in 1975. The PolitiFact team comprises senior reporters and editors with decades of experience covering politics, multimedia minds at the forefront of digital journalism and a network of freelance contributors and local partners around the country. We have high editorial standards and are committed to helping you exceed them.

Our 10-week, paid summer internship program is open to journalism students preparing for their junior or senior year of college. You will work out of our offices in either Washington, D.C., or St. Petersburg, Fla. (Remote work is possible only if COVID-19 restrictions are still in effect.)
