The third legislative session of Gov. Rick Scott’s tenure advanced some of his campaign promises but pushed a few others into holding mode.
PolitiFact Florida is tracking 57 promises Scott made during the 2010 campaign and rating them on our Scott-O-Meter.
We recently revisited several pledges to account for any changes made during the 60 days of lawmaking. (The session ended May 3.)
Scott earned a Promise Kept, for instance, for signing a bill into law that changes standards for admitting scientific evidence into court.
But his promise to implement accountability budgeting for each agency shifted to Promise Broken, thanks to an unwilling Legislature.
And even though he had found success in sparing businesses from paying the state’s corporate income tax, the Legislature blocked his effort this year, pushing the promise to Stalled.
Here is our latest tally of Scott’s campaign promises:
Promise Kept: 20
Compromise: 9
Stalled: 14
In the Works: 8
